Our Route Through Southeast Asia

4.5 months, 5 countries, 21 destinations, 6 flights, 11 ferries, 4 trains, one vintage motorcycle, our own two feet, and more buses/taxis than we could ever count.

We compiled a map to show all of the places we visited on our trip. The markers on the map are the locations we spent at least one night in. We averaged about one week in each location! There were many towns and villages in between these locations where we made stops and ate or explored. There were also a few places we doubled back to and went to twice!

Transportation in this region was tough to get used to at first. We learned quickly that you spend a lot of your budget (and time) just getting from one place to another. Our longest leg was a sleeper bus from Hoi An to Ho Chi Mihn City, Vietnam, where our bus drove 70 mph on questionable roads, continuously passing in the opposite lane for approx. 32 hours.

There are many places that are hard to get to, and hard to get out of. If we could do it again, we'd rent a car to have ultimate freedom (but this is ONLY because Brandon's a great driver; driving over there is definitely not something for a novice)! In the end, there were only a handful of places we were really disappointed we had missed. We saw SO MUCH!

In the coming weeks/months, we are going to start highlighting each location based on what we did, what we learned, and what we'd recommend! If there's a location on our list you're curious about, feel free to reach out! We have a lot to share.
